Let that sink in. Next month (well, if you live in the United States. Some lucky ducks get it earlier) we will be basking and probably weeping in the glory of Captain America: Civil War.

I still don’t know if I’m ready. Seriously, who’s ever prepared to see two of their favorite superheros butting heads in an all out war? Don’t lie to yourself, I have a feeling we’re going to be reeling for quite a while from the aftermath of this movie.

In the latest TV spots for Civil War, we’ve seen a few more new snippets of scenes. For example, Natasha and Clint interacting in a way I’d only expect them to: fighting yet at the same time being snarky to each other. And we’ve seen Black Panther aka T’Challa going after Steve and his vibranium shield.

Speaking of Black Panther, I’m so excited to see this character come to life on the big screen as well as Chadwick Boseman’s performance. I loved him in 42 as Jackie Robinson so I can’t wait to see what he does with this role and to see him rock that suit.

Back in December, Boseman spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the suit, which aside from the shoes, felt claustrophobic to him. Yet it’s still incredible when you think about the suit as a whole.

“As far as the storytelling is concerned, the vibranium is a metal that is dynamic. It can change how it’s used. It’s not a liquid, but it has the ability to change shape and change form and still have its strength. I think there a lot of things about that in the mythology that I think has a lot of potential in terms of the storytelling,” Boseman explained.

“It’s not just about being durable, it has the ability to absorb energy. It’s not just like you hit it and it doesn’t take it. It has the ability to absorb the attack of another person and repel or respond to that attack. That’s part of the power,” he continued.

Oh, my comic book loving heart is so happy. Also YES! to these actors digging deep and really researching their characters.

And just this past Monday, the Russo brothers posted a photo to their Instagram showing a behind the scenes look at a certain fight scene between Black Panther and Bucky.

Side note: say what you want, but I hope Bucky comes out alright…well, as alright as he can be factoring in everything that’s happened…after this movie. I need to see more of this character developed and Sebastian Stan has done one hell of a job as Bucky and The Winter Soldier.

I always enjoy typing up posts like this because I can honestly talk endlessly about comic books and their movie counterparts. Comic book nerd and proud!

Until next time, fellow comic book nerds, check out one of the latest TV spot trailers below and as always leave me your thoughts in the comments!

Captain America: Civil War – 54 Days & Counting

Please tell me you’re still trying to compose yourself after that Captain America: Civil War trailer. It’s been two days since it was released and I’m still catching myself re-watching it.

Some of the cast did a question and answer session with fans via BuzzFeed’s Tumblr and one of the questions was, “Can you tell us if/how this/these conflict(s) will alter personal relationships and friendships in the group going forward?”

According to Chris Evans: “They will change the dynamic FOREVER”

And Joe Russo answered: “There will be a long lasting fallout from the events of this movie. It will significantly alter the psychology of the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward.”

Robert Downey Jr.’s answer when asked, “Send a pic of a facial expression for civil war as a whole,” was given via Vine:

Oh, you need more convincing that this movie will destroy us come May 6? How about Sebastian Stan’s three words to sum up Civil War?

“Brutal mental annihilation”

pjnqk

That’s incredibly comforting. So here, read how Stan felt during and after watching a cut of the movie.

“I sat there and basically there was a bowl of candy and fruit and gum in front of me and then there were sparkling waters and I basically sat on the edge of my couch the entire time and ate through the entire bowl of candy. I was overly stimulated with this movie, which I’m so proud to be in because everyone is fucking awesome in it. Everyone is fucking fantastic. I walked out of it speechless, and I worked on the movie and I was there! I walked out of there and I had back pain from leaning,” Stan told Collider.

We still have about 55 days left before we can experience Civil War for ourselves but with the way this year is going, May 6 will be here before we know it. And I. Cannot. Wait!

Until then, check out the newest trailer for Captain America: Civil War below, either for the first time or the fortieth time (no judgement here, I’m probably close to that or more). And leave me a comment with your reactions to the trailer!

Sebastian Stan Talks ‘heartbreaking’ ‘Captain America: Civil War’

Just the announcement of the title of the movie broke my heart, so to hear Sebastian Stan refer to Captain America: Civil War as heartbreaking has me worried for my comic book nerd heart.

Team Cap or Team Iron Man? How about Team Stop Making Me Choose Between Two Of My All-Time Favorite Superheroes? How does that sound? But according to Stan, the Cap and Iron Man showdown in May is going to hit us pretty hard.

“I think it’s going to be an epic experience for people,” Stan told Entertainment Tonight, “I’m very excited for people to hear and see what side everybody ends up on, ’cause it gets a little heartbreaking.”

Fantastic.

But aside from our hearts breaking, Stan also referred to his fight scene with Robert Downey Jr. in Civil War as “amazing.”

“It’s inevitable not to geek out a little bit around Robert Downey Jr.,” he revealed, “Just to be around him [and] fight across from him was definitely a highlight!”

And you have to admit, that scene with Steve and Bucky battling it out together against Tony looks insane. It should be interesting to see how that turns out.

We’ll finally get to see exactly how that and everything else in Civil War turns out when May 6 rolls around (just 57 days from now but who’s counting?).

Until then, check out ET’s interview with Stan below and let me know who’s team you’re on (if you can choose) in the comments!

It’s all out Civil War…

Standard

Well, not quite yet. We still have some time before Captain America: Civil War hits theaters (May 6, 2016…just about seven months away, but who’s counting? Me.)

Although we have to wait for the third Cap film, it doesn’t mean Marvel won’t tease us until then. I can tell you I was thrilled to see the Team Cap and Team Iron Man photos released. And then I saw Natasha was on Team Iron Man…

Okay, Marvel, you better explain that thoroughly in Civil War unlike how us fans had the whole Bruce/Natasha relationship flung in our faces in Age of Ultron. I will forever be confused where that idea came from.

Don’t build up a close partnership and the possibility of a relationship if it works into the story line like Clint and Natasha and then toss it out the window. (And give Clint a secret wife and kids?! I still want to know what my face looked like in the theater when we first saw his family. It probably matched Steve’s during that scene.)

The same goes for Natasha and Steve. We got to see the awesome growth of their friendship in The Winter Soldier and now we’re supposed to believe Nat sides with Tony in Civil War? Please, I’m just praying it will all make sense.

I’m putting my faith in the writers and the Russo Brothers only because they did such an incredible job on The Winter Soldier.

Anyway, before I start rambling about more stuff this post wasn’t originally intended for, let’s get to why I’m actually writing this post.

Teasers leading up to Civil War. We’ve discussed the team photos, which also showed Bucky on Team Cap. I’m unbelievably excited to see how that plays out.

And of course, the after credits scene at the end of Ant-Man *SPOILERS AHEAD* that showed Steve and Sam finding Bucky in pretty bad shape was the ultimate tease. I wanted Civil War to start playing on the screen right then and there.

This week’s season premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. also gave us a potential Civil War easter egg during President Ellis’ address on TV in regards to the threats presented by the otherworldly beings popping up all over.

The battle of New York (thanks, Loki) is mentioned along with London (hey there, Thor) and Sokovia (yeah, you too, Ultron). This brings about a new task force titled the Advanced Threat Containment Unit, or ATCU.

Could this be what leads to Steve and Tony facing off against each other? Or something similar? Because we know the plot of Civil War deals with the Avengers disagreeing on how to ‘deal with situations’ so something like the task force could be behind it all.

I’m among the fans who thought putting Steve and Tony at odds with each other was a little uncalled for, especially right after we’ve just seen them become good friends and Avenger teammates. But over time, I’m becoming more and more excited and interested to see how this all plays out.

I can only imagine that Steve will be right about whatever craziness ensues and Tony will eventually realize his wrongs because with his current track record, when has Tony not screwed up lately?

Yeah, exactly.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I love Tony to death. Iron Man is one of my all-time favorite superheroes but when it comes to your favorites, you have to be able to admit when they do have faults. And Tony has plenty. I could write a feature story on the subject. (Relax, I’m not going to include it here)

For now, though, we’ll just have to see what else Marvel teases us with and resort to getting our feelings out through tweets and posts on the Internet. Like I just did. (Go me!)

Until next time, fellow Marvel fans, dazzle me with your theories and we can discuss together!

Marvel Cinematic Universe: Looking Ahead

Standard

Thanks to Iron Man and the perfection of Robert Downey Jr. as Mr. Tony Stark in 2008, the Marvel Cinematic Universe proved that it would be around for years to come and with the news of future MCU film release dates all the way into 2019, they are staying true to that commitment.

We already know about some of the upcoming films being released. They include: Guardians of the Galaxy arriving soon on August 1, 2014, The Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1, 2015, Ant-Man on July 17, 2015, Captain America 3 on May 6, 2016 and Doctor Strange on July 8, 2016.

The dates Marvel has released are as follows:

  • May 5, 2017
  • July 28, 2017
  • November 3, 2017
  • July 6, 2018
  • November 2, 2018
  • May 3, 2019

At the moment, they do not have film titles attached to them but hopefully with the always much-anticipated San Diego Comic Con starting on July 24 we’ll get some insight into what films they plan on releasing on those dates!

Seeing that Thor: The Dark World was released in November 2013 maybe they’ll be sticking with that month and we’ll eventually see the third Thor film attached to the November 2017 date. I’m just guessing here so don’t hold me to it!

Some fans are speculating that we may finally get a Black Widow film, which I admit I’d be excited to see. I’m so tired of female superheroes getting downplayed compared to their fellow male superheroes because no one thinks they’ll be as successful in their own films. I completely understand the financial issues/chances they’d need to take but Natasha/Black Widow as well as Scarlett Johansson are bad ass and represent strong female characters and I’d be proud of Marvel if they ended up making a film just for her! Plus there’s a very good chance they’d include Clint/Hawkeye aka Jeremy Renner OR if they want to go the way of the comics…maybe they’ll introduce the relationship Natasha has with the Winter Soldier/Bucky since it would be released after Captain America 3 and we’d get more progress on Bucky and his story line.

Other films they might announce are a fourth Iron Man (fingers crossed since RDJ reportedly only signed on for two more Avengers films), more than likely The Avengers 3, another Guardians of the Galaxy and possibly a new Hulk film with Mark Ruffalo?

Speculating and coming up with theories is always fun, so what do you think? I’ve been seeing some pretty awesome ideas from fans so leave your thoughts below in the comments!

Until next time, fellow entertainment junkies 🙂

Impatiently Awaiting The Avengers: Age of Ultron…

Standard

Leave it to Marvel to tease us even more while we try to remain patient for the arrival of The Avengers: Age of Ultron next summer. (Patience as a Marvel fan? Yeah, I know, that’s a funny joke)

On Wednesday, fans were given stills from the film, which no doubt left them drooling for more. We all want a trailer, that comes without question. And with San Diego Comic Con upon us, we’ll just have to sit in anticipation and see what Marvel gifts us with next.

From the pictures alone, you can check them out here courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, I’m more than excited. So far I actually like all the new and updated suits for our superheroes…except maybe Hawkeye’s. Without that long-sleeved jacket?…do we call it a jacket? Well whatever we’re referring to it as, I prefer his suit without it. I know bare arms aren’t exactly the smartest choice as a butt-kicking, crime-fighting superhero but Thor gets by just fine…except he’s a god but according to Odin “We are not gods! We’re born, we live, we die, just as humans do.” And to that I agree with Loki, “Give or take five thousand years.” …I see that I’ve veered off topic so forgive me and I’m going to get back to it.

Anyway!

Aside from the new suits (P.S. I really like Cap’s new suit, can’t wait to see it on the big screen), let’s move on to the supposed plot for the movie. I knew they planned on leaving it to Tony to be the creator behind Ultron and change it up from the back-story in the comics (In case you didn’t know, Dr. Hank Pym aka Ant-Man created Ultron in the comics). According to the supposed plot, Tony creates Ultron so he no longer has to get in the Iron Man suit (cue my emotional turmoil…Tony not flying around as Iron Man? Yeah, I doubt that will last long) and also so the rest of the super gang can relax while Ultron basically takes care of any threat that comes their way along with the help of Tony’s Iron Legion. Like I said, Tony out of his suit for good? Won’t last long since Ultron ends up despising human beings and wants nothing more than to obliterate each and every one of us. (Friendly PSA: Treat your tech gadgets kindly, ladies and gents!)

I’m really interested to see how this all plays out and to see how Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) come into the story line. The scene with the twins at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier definitely left me excited!

So, my fellow Marvel comic book nerds, what are your thoughts with all of this Age of Ultron news? Wish it was next summer already like me? Do you have anything that’s left you disappointed? I’d love to hear it all! Leave me some comments and let’s talk Avengers!

Until next time, fellow entertainment junkies 🙂
