Brotherly Hugs on the Set of Supernatural

Standard

We all know, or now you do, that Supernatural is currently filming the end of Season 11 and wrapping up this season soon in Vancouver. And with that comes thoughts of the season finale.

Are you guys even ready for that yet? Because I know I, for sure, am not. It feels as if this season just started so I’m not ready to say goodbye to the Winchesters until October.

There have also been some on-set photos released of Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki shooting scenes together. One of those scenes includes a hug and that hug is what is worrying me.

To me, Sam looks like he’s clutching Dean in that hug. It looks sad and heart-wrenching and almost like a goodbye or a ‘I might not see you again’ hug. See where I’m going here…? Can you also see how invested I am in this show?

If this has anything to do with Dean and the Darkness/Amara, I’m going to scream. I need them to destroy this Darkness, shove her in a box or a cage, anything to get rid of her because her whole “connection” with Dean is downright disturbing and Dean doesn’t deserve that. The last thing he needs is more reasons to think he’s toxic.

Check out the expression on Dean’s face in the photo above. He’s not happy. He’s pissed, he’s hurting and that’s his ‘I’m going to beat someone/something’s ass’ look…or he’s just giving in to the Darkness. For the love of Chuck, don’t be that last option.

After eleven seasons, I like to think that I can easily recognize these characters’ facial expressions and Jensen does such an incredible job portraying how Dean is feeling just through those facial expressions and without any words needed.

Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard and Ruth Connell were also on set. And from the looks of a tweet posted by Jose Manzano, a camera technician for Supernatural and you may also recognize him from past gag reels, Rob Benedict was filming scenes a few days ago as well. Are we getting a God/Amara showdown…? Only time will tell. And as I typed that I realized I just quoted song lyrics from Asia. At least Dean would be proud of me.

One Month Until Captain America: Civil War

Let that sink in. Next month (well, if you live in the United States. Some lucky ducks get it earlier) we will be basking and probably weeping in the glory of Captain America: Civil War.

I still don’t know if I’m ready. Seriously, who’s ever prepared to see two of their favorite superheros butting heads in an all out war? Don’t lie to yourself, I have a feeling we’re going to be reeling for quite a while from the aftermath of this movie.

In the latest TV spots for Civil War, we’ve seen a few more new snippets of scenes. For example, Natasha and Clint interacting in a way I’d only expect them to: fighting yet at the same time being snarky to each other. And we’ve seen Black Panther aka T’Challa going after Steve and his vibranium shield.

Speaking of Black Panther, I’m so excited to see this character come to life on the big screen as well as Chadwick Boseman’s performance. I loved him in 42 as Jackie Robinson so I can’t wait to see what he does with this role and to see him rock that suit.

Back in December, Boseman spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the suit, which aside from the shoes, felt claustrophobic to him. Yet it’s still incredible when you think about the suit as a whole.

“As far as the storytelling is concerned, the vibranium is a metal that is dynamic. It can change how it’s used. It’s not a liquid, but it has the ability to change shape and change form and still have its strength. I think there a lot of things about that in the mythology that I think has a lot of potential in terms of the storytelling,” Boseman explained.

“It’s not just about being durable, it has the ability to absorb energy. It’s not just like you hit it and it doesn’t take it. It has the ability to absorb the attack of another person and repel or respond to that attack. That’s part of the power,” he continued.

Oh, my comic book loving heart is so happy. Also YES! to these actors digging deep and really researching their characters.

And just this past Monday, the Russo brothers posted a photo to their Instagram showing a behind the scenes look at a certain fight scene between Black Panther and Bucky.

Side note: say what you want, but I hope Bucky comes out alright…well, as alright as he can be factoring in everything that’s happened…after this movie. I need to see more of this character developed and Sebastian Stan has done one hell of a job as Bucky and The Winter Soldier.

I always enjoy typing up posts like this because I can honestly talk endlessly about comic books and their movie counterparts. Comic book nerd and proud!

Until next time, fellow comic book nerds, check out one of the latest TV spot trailers below and as always leave me your thoughts in the comments!

Winchester Wednesday: Red Meat

“No more second chances. I’m here to reap you.”

Not something we haven’t heard before on Supernatural, not exactly something we enjoy hearing though.

tumblr_m70vlwhvkb1rziwwco1_250

Tonight’s episode is titled “Red Meat”and it marks the return of Billie the Reaper. And from the episode description alone what we have to look forward to is a pair of werewolves, their two victims, Sam getting shot (and potentially reaped) and Dean acting as savior big brother and hunter with a pack of werewolves on their trail.

So we have nothing short of emotional and mental stress waiting for us. The usual for us, SPNFamily, right?

And what I’m about to fill you in on will only add to that stress. Curious? Alright! Let’s talk about how Jensen and Jared feel Supernatural should end!

tumblr_inline_o2xes4ap0s1rn9as8_500

Relax. Especially since we’ve thankfully got a Season 12 to look forward to and with how well the show’s been doing, it doesn’t look like the end is coming anytime soon. Fingers crossed!

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the boys talked about all the different ways they’ve thought Supernatural should end and how over the years those possibilities have changed with each new season of the show.

“If you’d asked me season 1, I would’ve thought that it would’ve been the apocalypse. But then again, you can’t end the TV show with the worst thing happening,” Ackles said, “As we’ve evolved, I think that there’s different roads that the show could certainly go down that would be interesting. I think we’ve taken some really good turns.”

If we only ever got one season of Supernatural and it ended with the apocalypse starting or looming ahead, I probably would have dropped off of my couch into a puddle of tears. I already have enough traumatic memories from “Swan Song” and that nerve-wracking waiting period we had until we heard whether the Winchesters would be around for another season.

“It’s changed a lot over time. Part of me, loving Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, always thought it’d be great to see the boys against insurmountable odds and to freeze-frame on them and just hear stuff in the background. You don’t know if they die, you don’t know if they live, but you know that they’re going to go out in a blaze of glory,” Padalecki revealed.

This would be an interesting yet frustrating end for the show. I’d rather not have a Sopranos type of ending where something happens and then we have no clue what actually happened to the brothers.

supernatural-destiel1

Padalecki then added, “And then I went back and watched a few of the episodes, I watched through ‘Swan Song’ and the scene of the boys laying on the hood of the Impala. I think that’d be a nice way to go out if we had to — watching the end of the world. Or looking up at us from the trunk and throwing the weapons in and saying we’ve got work to do. All of those kind of leave room for opinion and room for interpretation. I don’t think we should see the boys die or live, we should wonder.”

That I think we can all live with. The boys just continuing their hunting. And I do love that idea of the scene being from the perspective of the Impala’s trunk and that memorable “We’ve got work to do,” line.

And as Padalecki said, “The boys can’t stop fighting.” Which is true. If the boys get out alive in the end, there’s no way they’d stop hunting and protecting people from the things that creep around in the dark.

But who knows if they’ll end up alive or dying…or one of the brothers dying. I’m starting to break my own heart right now.

“It’s either going to end tragic or it’s going to end not tragic, and I can kind of make an argument for both,” Ackles said, “I don’t really know where it’s going to go. I always thought Dean would make the ultimate sacrifice for his brother. I guess if I had to choose something, that’s probably what I would choose.”

tumblr_mhqjhqivtr1s1fwlwo6_250

Heart crumbling into pieces, for sure. Although, of course I can see Dean dying to protect Sam. They’ve both had that mentality since the beginning. And if we’re speaking honestly here, like I always do with you guys, none of us will be happy unless Supernatural ends the right way. A way most of us can agree is the way that just feels right for the Winchesters.

Let’s not think about Supernatural leaving us anymore though because hopefully we have plenty more good years with Sam and Dean. I am definitely not ready to say goodbye to them.

But if you have any interesting ideas of how you’d want Supernatural to end, please send them my way and leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Until next time, SPNFamily, enjoy tonight’s new episode and maybe I’ll see you during my live-tweeting on Twitter!

Daredevil: Thoughts So Far on Season 2

Standard
https://www.instagram.com/p/BCsZrhZiGKt/?taken-by=daredevil

Source: Daredevil Instagram

Believe it or not, I haven’t binge-watched ALL of Daredevil Season 2 just yet. I have three episodes left and as much as I’m dying to find out what happens, I’m trying to savor the remainder of this season.

Aside from that, I did want to talk about some of my thoughts while watching this season.

First off, I do not like Matt with Karen. I have nothing against Karen. I actually love her, especially with how strong she’s become and her ferocity to seek justice for Frank (I’ll get to Mr. Castle next). I just don’t like her in a relationship with Matt. They just don’t have that spark or chemistry together. I’d prefer her with Foggy over Matt if I had to choose and with how she and Foggy connected last season I thought maybe we’d see that relationship grow. But no. They pushed Karen and Matt together and in my opinion, it felt forced and ended up being boring. I also called it when it came to Elektra being part of the reason they broke up. And I hope they don’t bring up Matt and Karen’s ‘romance’ again. Just let it go. I know they had a relationship in the comics but that doesn’t mean it has to happen on the show because it wasn’t going anywhere I was interested to see.

Moving on!

Frank Castle. Oh, how I can talk about this character endlessly. To start, I was a fan of the movie The Punisher with Thomas Jane but once the character was recast I gave up on that. And when they cast Jon Bernthal as Frank I was a little nervous because I didn’t want my hatred of his past character I had watched, Shane, on The Walking Dead to interfere with his portrayal of Frank. I know, I know…he’s not the characters he plays! Well, I’m happy to say I love Bernthal as Frank Castle! He’s made me like The Punisher again and I found myself saying, “Where’s Frank?” whenever he was missing from an episode.

tumblr_o2lsbdhytj1qdhizao4_r1_500

There was just more action and the episodes were much more interesting when Frank was in them. And sorry, Matt, it’s hard for me to agree with you and think what Frank did was completely wrong. But I’m not going there in this post. Maybe another time! I just can’t hate Frank for what he did, especially with the reasoning he had behind it all. And honestly, I’d like to see how Matt would handle the same situation if it had been his family.

Like I said, I haven’t finished Season 2 yet but I really hope this won’t be the last we see of Frank/The Punisher. Bernthal’s performance has been incredible! And speaking of that whole chemistry thing? Karen and Frank have much more chemistry together than her and Matt. I really enjoyed the scenes with Karen and Frank and how he connected with her and felt comfortable opening up to her. Please give us more of that!

tumblr_static_23f4iv7ys5wgkg40ksw0cswkw

Also, I love the justice-seeking, investigative journalist side of Karen. And I almost cried when Mitchell showed her into Ben’s office for her to use while she looks deeper into Frank’s case. This is also where she sees that Ben had newspaper clippings about the death of her brother Kevin and she, herself, breaks down.

I’m glad Karen wasn’t made into a goody two shoes and used to, I guess, bring light into the otherwise dark world of Daredevil and Matt’s life. I hate when characters are used that way. Thankfully, we had the chance to see Karen grow even stronger and more determined, at times doing Foggy and Matt’s jobs better than them. I’m excited to see where her character will go from here.

To touch on the characters of Elektra and Stick, I have a bad feeling about what’s ahead for Elektra in the last few episodes I have left to watch and to be blunt, I can’t stand Stick. The whole shadiness of his life is just unsettling and I don’t like how he treats Matt.

As for Matt and Foggy’s friendship, it’s definitely been tested but if Foggy seriously thinks Matt could just pack up his suit and end his role as Daredevil, then he shouldn’t hold his breath. Yes, Matt hasn’t been the best of best friends and he can step up a little but he does have that whole protecting his city thing taking up quite a bit of his time. All I’m saying is, I hope this bromance drama doesn’t last too long because I need my avocados at law back together being snarky and seeking justice.

tumblr_nmxa2ue1fc1uq85ijo1_500

And everyone always tells the heroes that they don’t have to do what they’re doing…they don’t have to risk their life, they don’t have to save everyone, they don’t have to protect their city, blah, blah, blah. But if those heroes listened to that nonsense, there wouldn’t be any heroes like Daredevil, like Captain America, like Iron Man.

So until next time, I beg of you, keep your end of the season spoilers to yourself because I’ve been avoiding them like the plague and once I finish Season 2 I think I might write up a post on my thoughts/feelings on the season as a whole. Do leave me your thoughts (spoiler free!) on this season below in the comments and what you’d like to see next season if Daredevil is picked up for a third season (which I’m hoping is announced soon)!

The Walking Dead: Two Episodes of Season 6 Remain

Apparently when you tweet a simple tweet talking about being petrified to find out what the last two episodes of The Walking Dead have in store, some jerk will end up replying with potential spoilers.

rick5_zpss70iyzt3

To the dude who thought that was perfectly okay to do: If those spoilers my eyes obviously couldn’t avoid in my notifications end up being true, well, I hope karma stealthily sneaks up on you somehow. I’d say I hope someone spoils all of your favorite TV shows but you’re clearly a fan of spoilers so that’d be pointless of me to hope for.

Seriously though, you’re obviously free to post pretty much whatever your heart desires on your social media accounts. But sending someone spoilers who clearly did not ask for them (and in my case, was successfully avoiding until now) is just plain wrong.

Moving on from horrible people who obviously can’t have nice things, how many of you are actually petrified for the last two episodes of The Walking Dead? Because I’m seriously nervous about who is and who isn’t going to survive!

Spoilers from this past Sunday night & the comics ahead!

walking-dead-spoilers-glenn

I wasn’t surprised by how upset I was when Denise was killed because I’ve come to really like her. She didn’t deserve to die (especially like that and after showing she can step up and be brave), Tara doesn’t deserve to lose her and, correct me if I’m wrong, now our group of survivors doesn’t have a doctor. Fantastic.

[After thought and something I actually stupidly just thought of now: Isn’t it funny how Denise died from an arrow through the eye since she saved Carl from his horrific eye injury? I can’t be the only one who connected that! She also died how Abraham died in the comics.]

We also have to talk about Eugene stepping UP. Biting that a**hole in the junk?! That was definitely one major way to catch a guy off-guard! And his idea regarding the bullets and ammo is certainly genius. You go, Eugene!

giphy1

And Carol. Oh, Carol. She’s starting to irritate me again and I really don’t want that version of her back. I need badass Carol, not ‘I’m going to leave a cryptic note and leave for some out of nowhere reason’ Carol. C’mon! None of that is going to turn out well, we all know that. Especially with Negan looming in the very near future.

My emotions and mental state are just not ready for the end of this season. We’re also getting a 90-minute season finale, which means more time to have us gaping at our TVs enduring the unavoidable stress and heartbreak The Walking Dead gives us each week.

“I love this show!” I say while curled up in a ball as my eye twitches and I endlessly wonder how these characters stay sane in their walker infested and psychopath survivors-filled world.

Until next time, check out a sneak peek from next Sunday’s new episode that will certainly make Richonne shippers happy and leave me your thoughts on the end of this season in the comments below!

Hollywood Darlings: The 90s Continue to Make a Comeback

Standard

Growing up in the 90s, you were bound to watch Full House, 7th Heaven or Step by Step…or all three. And what better way to make our 90s hearts happy than with a reality series with stars from each of these shows?

Well that happiness easily comes with the announcement of Hollywood Darlings on Pop. The unscripted docu-comedy series will star Jodie Sweetin of Full House, Beverley Mitchell of 7th Heaven and Christine Lakin of Step by Step.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BC-ufo2ypEC/?hl=en&taken-by=jodiesweetin

Source: Jodie Sweetin Instagram

Sweetin posted this photo to her Instagram on Tuesday with the caption, “Yay! I can finally announce my series with @beverleymitchell and @yolakin coming to @poptv next year!! I love these ladies and we’re going to have so much fun!!”

Hollywood Darlings will be a half-hour show following the three actresses who have grown from child stars to moms, wives and businesswomen. The network has ordered eight episodes and the promise of other celebrity guest appearances has also been made.

“Anyone who was a TV fan in the ‘90s grew up with Jodie, Christine and Beverley–aspiring to be their best friends, wanting to dress like them and using their popular catchphrases,” Pop’s senior vice president of original programming and development, Paul Adler, said in a statement, “Hollywood Darlings provides an amazing opportunity for viewers to reignite their fandom for this now grown-up trio whose lives are as entertaining as they are relatable.”

How’s that for a Throwback Thursday? I for one was obsessed with Full House and 7th Heaven growing up but got into Step by Step more so later on when reruns aired on television. And I’m actually interested to see how this series plays out along with which celebs will be making guest appearances!  Too bad 2017 is still a bit far off at the moment.

giphy

Until next time, leave me your thoughts on Hollywood Darlings and since it is TBT I’d love to hear some throwback memories you may have from any and/or all of these three 90s shows!

Daredevil: Season 2 Awaits Us This Friday

As if Friday isn’t already a magical, glorious day most people count down to every week, this week for us Marvel fans Friday is even more enticing. Because we get to dive into Season 2 of Daredevil!

This season honestly looks incredible and I really hope it lives up to expectations because Daredevil has easily become one of my absolute favorite shows. I was blown away by the first season and it made me happy that they didn’t just do another movie. Marvel can do so much more with this character on a show and I cannot wait to how Season 2 unfolds and where it might lead to next season…if it gets renewed. But I can’t see it not getting renewed.

It’s Wednesday so we’re halfway there. It’s been a long year waiting for more Matt Murdock and those 13 episodes are just a grasp away.

Until next time, if you missed the final trailer released this Tuesday then check it out below and happy binge-watching this weekend!
